Boat trips: comfort, fog and getting back before the sea turns

A day out on a small boat is ruined, or made dangerous, by wind that rises or fog that comes in. SeaAj reads the sea for a small boat and tells you when to be back.

What SeaAj reads for you

Small boat

Whether the sea is fit for a small boat now, and from what time it is not.

Comfort on board

How the sea will feel for the people on the boat.

Back by

A return time before the light or the sea turns.

Wind

When it is expected to rise and to how much.

When to stay out

  • Wind forecast to rise in the afternoon when you are far out.
  • Fog, which takes away the coast and other boats.
  • Staying out until the light is going.

Before you go

  • Life jackets for everyone on board, and a charged phone.
  • Tell someone your route and return time.
  • Check fuel or battery for the way back, not only the way out.
  • Turn back early if the sea or the sky changes.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for a boat trip?

When the sea is calm and the wind is not forecast to rise. SeaAj shows the calm hours and a return time, per day.

Can SeaAj warn me about fog?

It shows whether fog is expected and from what time, as an estimate. If fog comes in, head back by a route you know.

Other activities

These are estimates, not guarantees. Always look at the sea yourself before going out, do not go alone and wear a life jacket.
